Wanted

You may or may not have read one of my August post, in which I was having a huge problem with this weevil. It completely devoured my Black Eyed Susan's, not to mention several other plants. I have asked so many of my gardening friends about this insect, and no one has ever seen one or had a problem with them. I even bagged them up and took them to work to have a horticulturist look at them and he had no idea what it was. I have googled and looked at so many insects that looked similar but not found an exact match. I was obsessed with this last summer, and would like to get a head start on the nasty little devils this year. So please, if you have seen this bug and know its name. I would really appreciate any information. I have included a link back in the title post, this will take you to the original posting and show you a short film clip of it's devastating

damage.

Not sure what it is, but if you take it to your local extension agent they should be able to identify it for you and the state probably has information on how to control it too.

Tina,
Thanks,I had planned to do that last year, however seems like they are closed whenever I am off of work. You know how that goes.

Yeeeww! That definitely looks nasty. I'm not good at identifying insect world, but hope this link helps:

I identified few of my garden predators from it.

Hi Jan,
I have been around but preoccupied with some much dreaded oral surgery Tuesday.I have been trying to get my mind off of it so I went shopping and bought two rose bushes and a lovely peony, called:
"Bowl of Beauty" I also bought a new bird feeder that Lowes had on clearance . I felt I deserved it due to my impending surgery. Ha Ha
Take Care

I didn't have to deal with that pest, but I had several other pest issues this last season. (Especially with the evergreen bushes) Great blog.
